About the Conference

Bukharian Jewish Academic Center ROSHNOI, in conjunction with The World Congress of Bukharian Jews and SAMi: Sephardic American Mizrahi Initiative, are holding the 11th International Conference, The Development of Bukharian Jewish Social and Cultural Life in the Modern Era, with the participation of representatives from the United States, Israel, Germany, Austria, Canada, Uzbekistan, and Tajikistan.

We invite proposals for sessions, and presentations focusing on any aspect of Bukharian Jewish history, culture, religion, language, and communal life, both in Central Asia and across the global diaspora. This academic and cultural conference will highlight the rich heritage of Bukharian Jews and their long-standing social, cultural, and historical interactions with surrounding societies. Scholars, educators, communal leaders, and cultural practitioners from around the world will convene to share research, lived experience, and emerging scholarship on the multifaceted Bukharian Jewish legacy.
